The 2015 Upward Flag Football season has come and gone and we had nearly 300 football players this year. It was our largest year ever, and by far the most successful.
To make the ministry successful, a slew of volunteers are needed. From evaluations to the end of year celebration, over 60 different individuals volunteered time to help in one way, shape or form. We simply wouldn’t exist without them.
The purpose of the ministry is for children to hear the Gospel. While we have a high percentage of churched families involved, we have a lot of unchurched. This year alone, over 60 decisions for Christ were made during the season, which includes the end of year celebration that saw Reid Saunders share the Gospel in a unique and exciting way.
For the season, we had 28 teams (an all-time high) which included 292 players. We had a jump of nearly 70 players this year compared to 2014 and expect a similar jump next year, which is why we are adding a third field for 2016.
This ministry is generously supported by several businesses that allow us to function financially independent from church funds. We had $9,500 in cash donations and about another $1,000 of in-kind donations. These funds have allowed us to purchase an Upward storage shed, an Upward tablet, field improvements, footballs, field supplies and so much more.
The Lord continues to bless this ministry in ways beyond our comprehension. We are looking forward to serving Him again in 2016.
