Bethany Growth Groups: Taking God At His Word

Posted on: September 23rd, 2015 by Casey Lute | News | No Comments

This year, our ministry emphasis at Bethany is Bible-Centered Living. Our hope for the upcoming year of ministry is expressed in this purpose statement:

To glorify God by enlisting his people to read, interpret, and apply his authoritative and sufficient Word to their lives, resulting in biblical life change.

TGAHWAs Christians, it is important that we learn to read, believe, and obey the Scriptures. To that end, this fall our home growth groups will all be working through Kevin DeYoung’s book Taking God At His Word. This book will help us to understand the nature of the Bible, and what we mean when we say that it is the Word of God. Knowing that the Bible is indeed the revelation of God to us will motivate us to study it more, to believe it, and to live by what it says.

Growth groups will be beginning this study next week (9/27-10/3). If you are not in a group but would like to be, please check out our growth group page for a listing of groups. You may contact a growth group leader or Pastor Casey for more information on how to join a group.

Copies of Taking God At His Word are currently available at the church for $10. We also have free study guides available that accompany the book. If you like to read your books electronically, you can find it in e-book form through all major retailers.

Even if you are not in a growth group this year, we encourage you to pick up a copy of the book and work through it on your own, knowing that many others from Bethany will be doing the same. We will be updating each week in our worship service regarding which chapter we will be reading that week. We pray that this book will drive you back to the Scriptures to see what God has said about his Word, and as a result strengthen your trust in him and increase your love for him.
